Field visits are planned for the students to provide them with an opportunity to discover the areas in which they will be serving after graduating from Faculty of Pharmacy, Barrett Hodgson University. Such visits are a source of motivation for the students who have recently chosen the noble profession of Pharmacy. Visits to hospitals, pharmacy services in hospitals, community pharmacies and pharmaceutical industry setups are part of this plan.
For giving the students a glimpse of pharmaceutical industry and to brief them about the responsibilities of industrial pharmacist, a visit to Barrett Hodgson Pakistan (BHP) was planned. BHP is one of the leading pharmaceutical manufacturer of the country. Yet another visit was planned on 14th Nov, 2019, with Department of Pharmacy students along with their faculty members.
Transport facility was provided by the university. Students were given a warm welcome by the management of BHP. They were briefed about the visit plan. They were asked to put on PPEs in the changing room before entering into the manufacturing facilities. They visited the liquid manufacturing facility and were briefed about liquid manufacturing, filling and packaging operations. Then, they visited QC department, R&D lab, packaging area and tableting sections. They were briefed by the experts working in those areas. After visiting the manufacturing site and associated labs, students took off the PPEs and were guided to the offices where they were introduced to the teams of marketing and business development. Finally, all the visitors were offered refreshment during which Head of HR Dept at BHP answered the questions of the students and motivated them.
The visit to BHP was a great source of information and motivation for the students. Students consider it as the best field trip among all the field visits they did previously. They were happy to see such a sophisticated set up and were excited to learn about all the operations they saw. They were very much fascinated and took keen interest in the process of tablet compression. Students were grateful to the management of BHP for their hospitality and kind words.
