Barrett Hodgson University introduced the New Year with a 4-day Sports Festival called BHathletUm 2020 from 13th January to 16th January. BHathletUm is a celebration and love for sports in students, which gives them a platform to prove their mettle in multiple sports like Badminton, Basketball, Squash, Table Tennis, Futsal and Chess.
The event was attended with great fervor and enthusiasm, displayed by teams and players representing more than 30 colleges and Universities of Karachi along with employees and faculty of Barrett Hodgson University. Honorable Chief Guests that graced the closing ceremony were, Ms. Mahoor Shahzad, a Badminton gold Medalist Asian Games Pakistan, Ms. Zenobia Wasif termed the 1st Pakistani Chess Woman, Mr. Farrrukh Kamal, Table Tennis Silver medalist 2nd position in South Asia 2017.
Mr. Khalid Rehmani Chairman of Soft Tennis Association, President of Para Sports Pakistan, Secretary of Pakistan Senior Tennis Association, Karachi City Sports Association, and he is also the Senior Vice President of Sindh Tennis Association. Mr. Kamran K. Kureshi, Secretary Sindh Association of Taekwondo International Referee and Mr. S.M Saeed, Secretary/Founder of Sindh Darts Association were invited to grace the sports event. BHathletUm sports teams and players were being represented by Colleges and Universities including Barrett Hodgson University, Greenwich University, Iqra University, Sir Syed, PAF-KIET, University of Karachi, Jinnah University, Virtual University, Szabist, IoBM, Ilma University, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University, represented themselves in BHathletUm. Students also participated from renowned Institutes like, BVS Parsi High School, Aga Khan School, The City School, Darakhshan Campus, The Millennium Universal College (TMUC), The Educator, BeaconHouse School System, Nixor and Adler College. Miss Afshan Fatima, Sports In-charge of Barrett Hodgson University’s Fatima Sports Complex, Mr.Tabish Student Affairs Manager and Mr. Umer Farooque Admin Manager regulated and managed all the games and proceedings of the 4-day event. Miss Afshan participated in the BHathletUm Badminton Tournament and won the 2nd position. Students' Sports Society of Barrett Hodgson University worked diligently to initiate BHathletUm 2020, and organized this event to bring together passionate individuals and players.
The Sports Society, few esteemed Executive members include President Mr. Zeeshan Ahmed, Vice President Mr. Zaigham Imran Nizami, Laviza as General Secretary and Abdul Basit as Treasurer. This event ensured one thing, which was that the love for sports and games can bring people together and that members no matter how competitive they are can still show great sportsmanship. Our Student Volunteers did a great job & It was yet another successful event under the supervision of Dr Hussain Habib Head of Marketing, HR & Admin at Barrett Hodgson University.
