The 1st SHU Sindh Open Chess Championship 2026, organized by Salim Habib University’s Sports Society in collaboration with the Sindh Chess Association, was successfully held from July 3 to 5, 2026, at Auditorium A, Salim Habib University.

The championship brought together more than 150 participants from across the province, providing chess enthusiasts with a dynamic platform to demonstrate their strategic thinking, competitive spirit, and exceptional skills.

The closing ceremony of the event was held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, and was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Mr. Nasim Khalidi, President, Chess Federation of Pakistan, Mr. Syed Aftab Jillani, President, Sindh Chess Association, Mr. Muhammad Waqar, General Secretary, Sindh Chess Association, Mr. Mohammad Wasif Nisar, Chief Coordinator and International Arbiter (FIDE), Dr. Dania, Chief Medical Officer, State Bank of Pakistan, Ms. Farzana Burny, Focal Person, IG Sindh Human Rights, and Ms. Zenobia, Social Worker.
