HIV/AIDS is still a major threat faced by the human population, with no broadly available cure or vaccine to fight it.

World AIDS Vaccine Day, observed annually on May 18, intends to highlight how crucial it is to continue to work on creating a vaccine to prevent HIV infection and AIDS, and to celebrate and thank profusely all the volunteers, healthcare professionals, researchers, and supporters who have dedicated their time and efforts to this cause.
