Salim Habib University's 1st Convocation took place on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the University campus, and it was a beautiful ceremony.

The meaningful occasion, held to confer degrees upon the graduates of the classes of 2021 and 2022, enveloped all present in a haze of bittersweet nostalgia and pride as graduates were recognized for their academic achievements and celebrated the milestone of transforming from students to professionals. Degrees were awarded to 113 students, while 14 high achievers received gold medals, and 12 were awarded silver medals. 

The ceremony was conducted by the Registrar of the University, Prof. Dr. Kaleem Raza Khan, who also led the academic procession. The procession following him included the University's Lecturers, Assistant Professors, Librarian, Director QEC, Controller of Examinations, Associate Professors, Professors & Deans, members of the Academic Council, members of the Board of Governors including Mr. Ali Naqvi, Mr. Tariq Amin, Mr. Muhammad Abbas, Chief Operating Officer of The Salim Habib Education Foundation and Director Finance of Salim Habib University, and Dr. Muhammad Hussain Habib, Director Education & Admissions, Marketing, HR & Admin, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Khan, and finally, our honourable Chancellor, Dr. Iram Afaq, who is also the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chairman of Barrett Hodgson Pakistan, and the Chief Executive Officer and Founding Member of The Salim Habib Education Foundation.

Chancellor Dr. Iram Afaq addressed the audience in a powerful and moving speech. She expressed her happiness and pride at seeing her students graduate, and in her talk, celebrated their academic achievements. She encouraged them to dream big and to follow their passions, and assured them that through hard work and perseverance, nothing is impossible.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Khan spoke at the event as well, taking the audience through the history of the University and its significant accomplishments, as did Prof. Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, who gave an inspiring Keynote Address that captivated the audience, and Mr. Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, Minister for Universities & Boards Department, who lauded the graduates for their achievements and urged them to continue to seek knowledge, as education is the only way to a better tomorrow for all.

Mr. Shahid Afridi, Former Captain, Pakistan National Cricket Team, also graced the event with his presence, as did dignitaries from all over Pakistan, including Vice Chancellors of universities and personalities of note from both education and industry. Ms. Fatima Afaq, after whom the Fatima School of Business Management & Computer Sciences is named, was also present at the ceremony.
